Coughlan On His Way?

Wednesday defender Graham Coughlan has been told he can leave Hillsborough in the January transfer window should a suitable offer come along for the Irishman.

Coughlan has been frozen out of a starting place in the Wednesday line-up ever since the sacking of Paul Sturrock - with captain Lee Bullen impressing at the back alongside Madjid Bougherra to help the Owls to within three points of the Championship play-offs.

And the Owls are set to accept any reasonable offers for the former Plymouth Argyle defender to help raise funds and wages for Brian Laws' potential targets in the January transfer window.

Paul Sturrock's Swindon Town are sure to be linked with his services after Sturrock brought the Irishman to Hillsborough after spending a successful period with him at Home Park.

The 32-year-old has made 45 league starts for Wednesday since making his free transfer move from Plymouth Argyle - weeks after the Owls won promotion to the Championship in the summer of 2005.
