Barnsley Sign Lucas
Wednesday's Championship rivals Barnsley have snapped up former Owls stopper David Lucas on a short-term deal after the goalkeeper was released from his Hillsborough contract.
The 29-year-old is new boss Simon Davey's second capture sincing taking the reigns at Oakwell on a permanent basis - and fought of League Two side Darlington for his services.
The former Preston North End goalkeeper has signed for the South Yorkshire club on a month-to-month contract after being released from his Wednesday contract at the start of the current campaign.
Lucas was training with the Owls in his quest to return to full fitness but was never expected to re-sign a deal with Wednesday after former boss Paul Sturrock played down rumours of a return.
Lucas made over 50 starts for the Owls since signing permanently from Preston for a fee of £100,000 - and was part of the side that achieved promotion via the play-offs from League One under Paul Sturrock.
