'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager's Musings: Pre-Derby

Wednesday boss Brian Laws looks forward to the vital clash with Billy Davies' high-flying Rams side on Saturday, and has an injury and suspension-free side to choose from.

Laws will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the league following the disappointing defeat against lowly Hull City in their last match - but admits it's going to be a tough task against one of the favourites for promotion.

He told the official SWFC site: 'They attack very well and I know Craig Fagan has done well against Sheffield Wednesday in the past. But although they haven't conceded many, defensively they look weak at times. I believe they will be more worried about us than we are about them - is that why they've gone out and spent £4m?'

The only selection worry for the Owls gaffer will be whether to continue with Graham Coughlan at the heart of the defence or welcome back Madjid Bougherra following suspension - despite reports linking him with a move away from the club.

He added: 'I have to look at him very closely. The last thing I want to do is have a player going out on the field of play, not concentrating 100 per cent and costing us a goal. I've spoken to Madjid at length on Wednesday and Thursday and he's assured me categorically that when he goes out there he will give everything he's got.

'He loves Sheffield Wednesday and he loves the supporters. From that point of view I will have no worries about putting him in the side.'

The Owls are set to take over 4,000 fans down the M1 to Pride Park - but fans are reminded the match is ALL TICKET and no tickets will be available on the day.
