'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager's Musings: Pre-City

Wednesday boss Brian Laws looks ahead to the second meeting against former team mate Stuart Pearce and his Manchester City side this evening.

Laws played alongside his opposite number under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest - but he insists his side have nothing to fear going in to the clash against Premiership opposition.

Steve Maclean ensured the Owls got a second bite of the cherry as his wonder strike levelled a Georgios Samaras penalty in an entertaining clash at Hillsborough.

Laws told the official SWFC site: 'There's nothing to fear and I don't think we're that much of an underdog. Our best results have been away from home because we counter-attack in numbers and move the ball very quickly. They've got to come and attack us on their patch and that will leave gaps for us to exploit. I'm quietly confident.'

And the gaffer revealed he will be waiting until the last minute to name his starting line-up following a number of knocks sustained to players against Derby at the weekend.

He added: 'We're looking to see if there are any walking wounded from Saturday's game. Madjid Bougherra was limping with a cal knock but we hope he's OK. We'll give him every chance to recover.'
