Laws Looking Up
Owls boss Brian Laws is still confident Wednesday can reach the Championship play-off places despite his side being without a win in 2007.
The Owls opened the new year with a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to lowly Hull before a last-gasp defeat at Derby County and defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup saw them make a less-than-impressive start to 2007.
But Laws has pointed towards the progression made from last season - where the Owls were knocked out of the FA Cup at the same stage with a 4-2 home defeat to Charlton and battling against relegation.
He told the Sheffield Star: 'I've said to the players 'look at this time last year - where were you in the League? Fourth or fifth from bottom and frightened to death of making mistakes.
'We are in a privileged position now, looking up not over our shoulders. With 18 games left, we've got to get those heads up, try to win every game between now and the end of the season and see where it takes us.'
And the Owls gaffer is sure his men can win more than the lose in the second-half of the campaign - using their impressive performances against Manchester City as the benchmark for future matches.
He added: 'If the kind of commitment we showed against Manchester City remains, I think we'll win our fair share of games.'
