Arab's Coughlan Bid Rejected

SPL side Dundee United have had an approach to take Owls defender Graham Coughlan on loan until the end of the season rejected according to our sister site, Vital Dundee United.

United manager Craig Levein had hoped to take the former Plymouth Argyle defender on-loan until the end of the season to help solve the current defensive crisis at the SPL club.

Levein said: "One of the players I was interested in was playing on Saturday and picked up an injury, so it looks like he can't come That's the kind of thing that has been happening, but there is nothing you can do about it other than keep looking.

"I'll be asked about it every day and all I can really say is I am working hard to get a player who can do a job as soon as I can."

Coughlan has become a part of Brian Laws' plans at Hillsborough after the recent speculation surrounding the future of highly-rated Madjid Bougherra, and injuries to a number of key defenders.

But the Irishman left the pitch in the first half of Wednesday's crushing 4-2 home defeat to Sunderland at the weekend and was admitted to hospital with concussion and at least one tooth missing.

Levein, former boss at Wednesday's Championship rivals Leicester City, has highlighted the United defence as a key area to strengthen in the January transfer window and has already brought in a number of players.

Definately not, but I think he could well be off in the summer, Laws will want to bring in his own players I'd have thought.
