Vital Match Reaction - Carlos Refuses To Comment On Referee

Fans giving a manager who has delivered some form of success for Wednesday isn't anything unusual. It's happened countless times in the past and presently it seems as soon as The Owls concede a goal Carlos Carvalhal starts to receive flack. Defeat at the hands of Aston Villa at Villa Park with a multitude of players out, shows how far we've come under Chansiri as it's a bitter pill to swallow for fans.

Despite heavy pressure from Wednesday, and clear dominance in the first half it was Villa who took the lead when Kodjia rose highest in the box to head home. Sasso was then sent off for a rash challenge near the halfway line, with Carlos following shortly after leaving the Owls without a central defender or a manager on the sidelines. Despite chances, Kodjia made it 2-0 when he rounded Keiren Westwood and tapped the ball into an empty net to round off a frustrating afternoon for Wednesday.

After the game the Owls head coach said to swfc.co.uk:

"We came here to win the game. In the first half the first two or three chances to score was for us, but we did not achieve the goal.

"Aston Villa did not need more than one chance to score the first goal.

"In the Championship the first goal is very important, and unfortunately we didn`t get it today even though we had control at the beginning of the game."

Wednesday`s afternoon had a swave of temporary moments but the Wednesday boss wouldn't comment publicly, maybe given the nature of the FA and EFL being autocratic over comments at the moment but lacking this vigour on other key matters. Carvalhal added:

"I do not talk about the decisions or the referee. The game is over and we move on to a very important game against Reading at Hillsborough on Friday.

"If you ask me about why I do not think it is important but I have talked to the referee and he has confirmed that I did not say one single thing that was offensive.

"He said I left the technical area and that is why this happened."
