Hammers Chase Brunt

Premiership strugglers West Ham United are set to make a move for Wednesday's top-scorer Chris Brunt according to reports in Northern Ireland this week.

The highly-rated left-winger was rumoured to have been watched by the Upton Park scouts before the sacking of Alan Pardew, and rumours of a move to the top flight have resurfaced this week in the Belfast Telegraph.

The 22-year-old has had a superb season for the Owls and is currently leading the way in the Hillsborough scoring charts this season despite occupying the left midfield role.

And his fine form has seen him recalled to the Northern Ireland squad by manager Lawrie Sanchez for the friendly clash with Wales next week - almost a year after he last featured for his country.

New West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his playing squad as his men look to avoid relegation from the Premiership, and has already spent money bringing in Luis Boa Morte, Nigel Quashie and Calum Davenport.

And with Eggert Magnusson's money the Owls star-man could be the next to arrive through the doors at Upton Park, with the Owls likely to listen to any offers for the player to help reduce the debt at the club.
