Vital Pre-Match - Owls Boss Ahead Of Playoff 1st Leg

Hard work has paid off, the Owls have reached their second successive EFL Championship promotion playoff campaign in a row. After six years of improving finishes and an 'almost` last season the highest placed Yorkshire side in the EFL go again for a return to the grand stage in time for the clubs 150th anniversary.

In their way are fellow Yorkshire side and what many view as a surprise package side in the shape of Huddersfield Town. Carlos has called for focus and determination as the key factors needed in their Yorkshire play-off duel.

Speaking to swfc.co.uk the Portuguese coach said:

"The play-offs are the start of a new competition. We are there because we have had a good season and Huddersfield are there because they have had a good season also.

"What has happened before that does not matter, all that matters now is what happens over these two games.

"We are workers and we are ready. We will go there and run a lot, fight a lot and show absolute determination to hopefully play our football and win the game.

Carlos who has faced off against David Wagner four times on the sidelines in the past two seasons, has a lot of admiration for the German and his side and states that the Owls have full respect for their Playoff opponents, as he added:

"We have full respect for Huddersfield because they are a good side but we are a good side too."

After Sunday`s clash the second leg will be under lights at a sold-out (not capacity) Hillsborough on Wednesday night and Carlos went on adding:

"All the talking we have done this week is all about the first leg.

"When the final whistle goes on Sunday, we will then concentrate on the game on Wednesday.

"The players are thinking only of Sunday and they will be ready. All the squad will be ready."
