Adkins Warns Owls

Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins has issued a hands off warning to his former manager Brian Laws over the availability of star defender Richard Hinds.

Reports have linked the Owls gaffer with a move for his former defender in the January transfer window following the sale of Madjid Bougherra to Charlton this week.

But Adkins has insisted Hinds is going nowhere and is a key part of the Iron's plans for promotion this season.

He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: 'At this moment in time, Richard is totally committed to this football club. He is alongside us in the trenches - and you could not wish for a better man to be with you there.

'Like every other player at this club, Richard will eventually leave, but not now. He is part of a squad that is committed to this club and to each other.'

Laws has already revealed he will be waiting until the end of the season to further strengthen his squad with the money received from the Bougherra deal, and Hinds could be top of his hit-list should Scunthorpe fail to achieve promotion.
