JJ To Miss Trio Of Matches

New Wednesday signing Jermaine Johnson will be sidelined for three matches following his sending off for Bradford against Yeovil at the weekend.

The Jamaican winger - who arrived at Hillsborough this week for a fee of £400,000 - picked up a two-game ban following his red card at the weekend, and will miss a further match due to an FA rule which states a player must serve the ban according to the fixture list of the club he got sent-off for.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'We are governed by Bradford's fixtures. It seems a bit strange to me. I can't understand it at all. It's disappointing but I'm sure the time will pass quickly.

'Jermaine will be a great asset to us. He has electrifying pace; he can play on the right of left flank, or up front. He's the sort of player who will have our fans on the edge of their seats.'

Wednesday face three games in the time it takes the Bantams to play the two matches Johnson would have been suspended for - leaving him sidelined for the vital Owls clashes with Southampton, Preston NE and Burnley.

And the new-boy's start in the famous blue and white shirt will be put back even further with the postponement of Wednesday's clash with Plymouth Arglye - making his likely debut in the away game at Luton Town on Tuesday, February 20.

Praying for madjid to break his legs is a bit harsh, the fact that next season the fool will be back in the championship is in itself justice. I think we all need to move on as wednesdayites and get behind the players that want to don the blue and white stripes.
