Laws' Musings: Pre-Saints

Owls boss Brian Laws hopes his side can take advantage of their underdog tag as they travel to the south coast to take on the 'best team' Wednesday have played this season.

Wednesday were fortunate to take a share of the spoils when the two teams last met before Christmas, after a superb comeback resulted in goalkeeper Mark Crossley netting a last minute leveller.

And Laws believes the performance from George Burley's men on that Saturday was the best he'd seen against his team this season and is wary of the threat the Saints pose.

He told the official SWFC site: 'They are the best side we've played. Although we got a 3-3 draw having not played very well on the day, I don't want to take anything away from them - their performance was very good.

'They've had a great run of results. I watched them again on Sunday against Manchester City and they're a very good side. It's going to be a tough test for us, make no mistake, but we always seem to save our best for away games.'

And the Owls gaffer is confident that his side can go in to the game fresh-legged following their ten-day lay-off, able to play with no pressure on them - with the Saints firm favourites to pick up all three points.

He continued: 'The pressure's on them, not us, and we're certainly not going there to defend.'

Come on Wednesday, let's see what we all know you are capable of doing. We need to push for the playoff spots although I don't think we need promotion this season. There is light at the end of the tunnel and in the next season or so we should be aiming for the dizzy heights of the premiership!!!!
