Buckley: They Won't Be Far From The Top Two

Will Buckley completed a switch across the Pennines this week, to the Macron Stadium, to the newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers.

Upon his free switch, Buckley signed a two-year contract but also passed comment upon Sheffield Wednesday. The 28-year-old played little more than a bit-part role for the S6 last season, making just 12 appearances as he faced stiff wide competition from Ross Wallace and fellow-loanee, Callum McManaman.

This was also partly down to missing eleven fixtures to serve treatment on a shoulder injury against Preston North End, where he was clattered by Chris Maxwell, and played the rest of the game unable to move his arm, after the Owls ran out of substitutes.

Upon the injury (quotes are sourced from the Sheffield Star), he said: "My injury came at a bad time, really, because I had struggled to get a run of games together and, to be honest, I didn`t really fit in with the way the manager wanted to play,"

"Sometimes that happens in football and I don`t feel bitter about it. I wish them well but I`ve got my own challenges at a new club now."

However, he did speak about the loan move as a whole also. On his S6 switch, he commented: "I think Sheffield Wednesday was just the wrong move at the wrong time for me. I got a few injuries and just couldn`t get into a really good team. It was frustrating because I felt like I could have contributed more."

To conclude, he wished Wednesday the best going forward and added this on the Owls' promotion hopes for the coming season: "Obviously you can see they are serious about getting into the Premier League by some of the big names they have brought in and the money which has been spent there."

"There are some excellent players in the squad, good lads too, and I don`t think they will be far away from the top two this season because I wouldn`t be surprised to see them go and spend some more."
