Melo Departs (Not On A Tram)
Legend is perhaps a word which is over-used these days. And if we were mention, this man, Filipe Melo, you'd perhaps think far from it.
And so would we, unless of course it was a mythical legend, and it may as well be, bearing in mind injuries hampered his Owls career to 6 appearances.
He joined in 2015, on Deadline Day of the Winter Transfer Window, days after Dejphon Chansiri took the reigns of the club, for a reported fee of £300k.
All 6 games he played came in the 2014/15 campaign under Stuart Gray, but then, due to going under the knife with regards to a knee issue, Owls fans barely got to see him, as he sat out the 2015/16 campaign.
From a personal perspective, I only saw him twice, once at Brentford at home, and once getting off the tram at the Cathedral, before heading up Fargate.
However, 2 years on from signing for Wednesday, the Borat-lookalike managed to craft himself a move back to Portugal, to play for Pacos Ferreira (as opposed to present a foreign nation for Kazakh television).
He has now moved on once more, back home. He has signed a 3 year deal with Chaves, and the Owls received no fee for the combative midfielder.
Joking aside, we wish Melo the best back in Portugal.
