Owls Star Lee On Being Back And Scoring Vs Forest

Wednesdayites witnessed the longer awaited (and needed) return of former Oldham and Manchester United man Kieran Lee to the Owls starting XI. Fans welcomed back the midfield action man Lee against Nottingham Forest and he greeted them with a the Owls third goal of the afternoon as the Owls made easy going of the second half after a level first half against the Reds.

Wednesday, started with a bang creating chances but no taking the lead until midway through the first half as Forest`s keeper fluffed a clearance to Barry Bannan who tee`d up Gary Hooper who pop the ball home from near the penalty spot to give the Owls a deserved lead. As hard as that lead was to come by the visitors restored parity within a few minutes as Osbourn slammed home after avoiding Van Aken`s slide tackle. Level at the break, Wednesday upper themselves through the gears and scored two thanks to Lee`s devine corner placed onto the head of Fletcher who doesn't miss those before Lee killed the game with a fine finish after good work from Wallace and Hunt to set him up.

After the final whistle Lee told swfc.co.uk:

"It`s been a frustrating start to the season personally because I have had to sit the first few games out.

"Any player will tell you that hurts more than an injury because you want to be out there playing and helping the team.

"Obviously I`m not 100% yet and the medical department are managing the situation day by day and week by week.

"But I felt good today and it was great to be back out there on the pitch.

"To get on the scoresheet was a bonus because the main thing was the win for the team and for me personally to come through okay."

Wednesday, with the added competition for places with Jacob Butterfield, George Boyd and the returning Lee looked up for the task against a side who've started the EFL season in better shape than many thought under Mark Warburton. With the Owls securing a first home win of the season and heading into another fixture of Tuesday evening, Lee and the Owls have the chance to put August`s indifferent start behind them. Lee added:

"Not having played for a while, the legs can get a bit heavy and I`m sure I will feel it in the morning!

"But no, it`s great for me because there`s nothing worse than not being able to contribute, even though there`s nothing you can do about it.

"I`ve trained as much as I can and I am feeling fit, it`s that sharpness that you miss a little straight away.

"But that will come and hopefully I will be back firing on all cylinders sooner rather than later.

"It`s a little too early to say if I can play again on Tuesday so we will see what the next couple of days bring."
