Leeds Represents An Opportunity - Carvalhal
Manager Carlos Carvalhal has said the match against Leeds United can't come quick enough following recent disappointments, and Glenn Loovens was more than on board with that.
Ahead of the Yorkshire Derby and with Sheffield Wednesday on the back of two defeats, Carvalhal told the Official Site that the players wouldn't be hiding this weekend, and everyone was determined and prepared for the challenge that lay ahead as we look to put disappointment behind us.
'I feel hurt like the fans but I am completely ready for this moment. I am strong, I feel very, very strong with my team. Maybe it will sound very strange from a coach in this situation but I am really looking forward to this game on Sunday.'
He went on to say.
'I want to play this game, I want to see my players play, I want to see what my players can do against a strong opponent, I want to feel the atmosphere, I want to see the fans and I am looking forward to the game. I am not afraid about nothing, I never hide, I am here, I give my face all the time and I am ready to the game.'
With Leeds starting the season in strong fashion, they arrive at Hillsborough this weekend on the back of successive away defeats themselves.
'I want this game to come because I am looking forward to it, I want to enjoy the football that we play and try to win the game. I am ready to this and very comfortable in my mind about all the situations.'
Skipper Glenn Loovens was also meeting with the media ahead of the game, and he was confident our recent setbacks would be put to bed in this encounter and we'd return to winning ways.
Loovens returned to training this week having been sidelined with a hip injury.
'When things get tough, the supporters can help us so much. The support they give to us is vital and it gives us that little bit extra. I can tell you as an experienced player, the support that they can give does a lot to a player. You know all about it when you feel them right behind you and this is what we will need on Sunday. Sunday is a good opportunity for us. There is always another game, that is what is good about this league.'
He went on to add.
'We want to do it for the fans, for the manager, for everyone connected with the club. But also, we want to do ourselves proud. I know the players in this dressing room and believe me when I tell you, they`ll be up for this.'
