Carvalhal Comes Out Fighting
With Sheffield Wednesday fans being vocal on social media following this weekend's loss to Bolton Wanderers, it seems manager Carlos Carvalhal has come out fighting.
Speaking to the Official Site yesterday as he contined to reflect on the two one defeat at the Macron Stadium Carvalhal demanded a more 'consistent level' from the players in future games, as we've shown how good and bad can be so far this year.
Sitting in 12th place in the table on 16 points from the opening 12 games, the win, draw and loss record is pretty balanced with a four a piece in each column, but Wednesday sit only four points off the play off spots at the stage.
Fans realise we're only six points off the relegation zone, but it is shaping up to be an incredibly tight division again.
'We will fight to the last minutes with heart, we work hard for Sheffield Wednesday, me and my staff. We came into the weekend on the back of a fantastic performance against Leeds, we put the same formation but we understand football. After Leeds, the things are perfect and when we lose, everything is wrong.'
Carvalhal went on to say that it was important others, and he, didn't overact whilst emotions at the defeat were high.
'But it`s not like this. I believe there is a middle ground between the things, we are not far away in terms of the points from the positions above. We are still fighting to those positions, it is a very hard competition and all teams will lose points.'
With Derby County up next at the iPro Stadium, Carvalhal went on to say that promotion remained the aim and he remained confident that we could battle for that, as long as our consistency improved.
'Of course, we believe we can fight for the promotion this season. But we must correct the things, we must do better and be more consistent and that is something we are missing - the consistency.'
