Watson's Fresh Start

New Wednesday signing Steve Watson is hoping the Owls return to the ways that saw them sweep aside West Brom last year - starting at Turf Moor against Burnley tomorrow.

The former Newcastle United and Everton man only knew about the possibility of moving to Hillsborough late on Thursday, but had no questions about completing the loan deal and making a fresh start.

He told the official SWFC site: 'It is a great chance for me to get a fresh start, get some games under my belt and bring a bit of experience to the club. It was a case of getting the call last night and coming down first thing and signing.

'It is a huge club which has got great tradition. I have played at Hillsborough a load of times for different teams - most of my memories are from Newcastle. It is a great stadium with a great pitch.

'West Brom played here earlier in the season, it was a really solid performance (by Wednesday) and we need to look to get back to those performances, hopefully starting at Burnley.'

The 32-year-old will go straight in Brian Laws' 16-man squad for the trip to Lancashire, and is likely to be hit with a baptism of fire as he faces former Blades duo Ade Akibiyi and Andy Gray in the Clarets attack.
