Reactions - Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday (9/12/17)

Following today's clash between Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Norwich City hosted Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road for a 5.30pm kick off on Saturday December 9, with the hosts taking a three one victory.

Sheffield Wednesday took the lead through Jordan Rhodes in the 18th minute, but a spirited second half fight back from Norwich saw goals from James Maddison, Timm Klose and a Nelson Oliveira penalty in stoppage time to deliver all three points in their direction.

It was Norwich's first home win since September 9 and Sheffield Wednesday's winless streak hits five games and their search for an away win goes back to August 19.

Gunn, Ferreira Mendonça Pinto, Hanley, Klose, Stiepermann, Reed, Vrancic, Murphy (Watkins 45), Maddison (Zimmermann 90+2), Pritchard (Trybull 79), Oliveira.

Jerome, Hoolahan, Wildschut, McGovern.

Sheff Wed:

Westwood, Palmer, Loovens, van Aken, Fox (Nuhiu 78), Wallace, Jones (Lee 69), Bannan, Reach, Rhodes, Hooper.

Butterfield, Lucas Joao, Wildsmith, Pudil, Ferrao Venancio.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee James Linington blew the final whistle, Norwich manager Daniel Farke explained.

'For me it was a big relief because it has been a long time since we won at Carrow Road. It can be tough for everyone when you are on a run like that but I thought it was a good performance today and the win was well deserved. It is also the first time we have scored three times in the league this season so that is also pleasing. I actually thought we had the better chances in the first half but we didn't take them and they got the goal. I thought the second half was brilliant. There was a lot of pressure on the players but they showed their character by turning the game round and getting a really good result.'

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal in his comparitive interview explained.

'The moment of the game was their first goal - that changed everything. When you are winning you should never get caught on the counter-attack but that is what happened. The players had shown a lot of quality in the first half but they compromised everything in that moment. As a manager it is not something you want to see. The instructions at half-time were to stay solid and go looking for a second goal but we allowed them to score on the break and that was very disappointing. The game was then well balanced and they scored from a corner but the first goal was the key.'
