My Aim Is The Premier League - Luhukay

New Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay met the media earlier today after beginning work at the club for the first time.

The appointment was announced the other day but the 54 year old Dutchman officially began the job this morning and having been presented to the media for his first press conference, owner Dejphon Chansiri made it clear was his job remit was - gain promotion and go that step further than former gaffer Carlos Carvalhal who reached the Play Offs in successive seasons.

Speaking to Sky Sports at the conference Chansiri explained.

'He needs to finish the job - to bring us to the Premier League. As soon as he can.'

The owner also explained that the terms of Luhukay's contract would remain undisclosed for some reason.

Having been out of work since he quit Stuttgart in September, the new man at the helm knew he had to hit the ground running, but he also acknowledged that having spent his entire managerial career in Germany, he would have to adjust to life in England and the Championship.

'At this moment we must see how the table develops. We're 16th so the way to upstairs is long now. First we must get stability. There are a lot of injuries to very good players, so I must try and get the best out of the players who can play.'

With his first game set to be Friday's clash with Sheffield United, he's expecting a lively introduction to life at the club.

'I'm told of the passion that the fans have - it's a highlight day. Derbies are everywhere, in every country. I like the football in England. It's great football, big stadiums. The fans have a lot of emotion and passion so that's why I like it so much to be a manager and work here. We will play good football, but it's important that now we must give the team stability. The team has not so much confidence at this moment. The last few weeks and months, it's not what the fans want to think about. The last two years it was fantastic. The step to the Premier League was very close.'
