Owls Linked With Clingan

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has been linked with a summer move for highly-rated Nottingham Forest and Northern Ireland midfielder Sammy Clingan.

Rumours from the City Ground have revealed Laws has been chasing the former Wolves and Chesterfield man since his arrival at S6 - and is keen on a cash plus player deal to bring the Northern Ireland international to Hillsborough in the pre-season.

Laws has a good knowledge of the player from his time in League One managing Scunthorpe United - and the 23 year old is well known to Northern Ireland team-mate Chris Brunt who is already a key figure at S6.

And it is thought the Owls will offer two players plus cash to Forest boss Colin Calderwood to entice the midfielder away from Forest - with the deal dependent on whether the reds are in League One or the Championship next season.

Clingan has made a big impression on the Forest faithful since his arrival at the City Ground on a free transfer from Wolves in January 2006, having failed to break in to the starting eleven at Molineux.

He burst on to the scene with two loan spells at Chesterfield in which he made almost 30 appearances in total - before going on to play 37 times for Forest and cement a place in Lawrie Sanchez's Northern Ireland squad.
