Instant Reactions - Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday (10/2/18)

Following today's clash between Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Barnsley hosted Sheffield Wednesday at Oakwell for a 12.15pm kick off on Saturday February 10, with both sides playing out a score draw on the day.

The visitors took the lead through Atdhe Nuhiu who scored from the penalty spot in the 18th minute, but three minutes later the hosts were back on level terms as Oli McBurnie hit the back of the net.

Teams:

Barnsley:

Townsend, Yiadom, Mills, Lindsay, Pinillos, Isgrove (Mahoney 63), Gardner, Williams, Hammill, Bradshaw, McBurnie (Moore 73).

Substitutes:

Davies, Moncur, Mallan, Pearson, Thiam.

Sheff Wed:

Wildsmith, Palmer, Ferrao Venancio, Jones (Nielsen 81), Thorniley (Stobbs 68), Fox, Wallace, Pelupessy, Reach, Lucas Joao, Nuhiu.

Substitutes:

Hunt, Rhodes, Boyd, Dawson, Kirby.

Speaking to Sky Sports' cameras a short time after match day referee Lee Probert blew the final whistle, Barnsley caretaker head coach Paul Harsley explained.

'You never know what's going to happen but the second I walked into the changing room on Tuesday morning I knew everyone was on side. We knew clearly what we wanted. After the game I told the lads I couldn't thank them enough. They could have had their heads turned. The lads responded brilliant. We all came together. I was asked to do this game and I've done it to the best I could in the short space of time. I'm just gutted we didn't get the three points. In the first half I thought we were the more dominant team. The last 30 minutes fizzled out a bit - both teams were maybe worried about conceding.'

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Jos Luhukay in his comparative interview explained.

'I think after 90 minutes we must live with this draw. Both teams had chances. We scored the first goal but we couldn't stay in front. Barnsley had also two or three good chances but we had a very good goalkeeper in Joe Wildsmith. He made some fantastic saves. We had four or five situations but we only scored from the penalty spot. Today who scores the second goal would have left as the winner.'
