Tudgay Aims To Bounce Back

Wednesday striker Marcus Tudgay is determined to put his dry spell in front of goal behind him and and regain the form which saw him net seven goals in nine games earlier this season.

The former Derby striker was a key part of the Owls turnaround under Sean McAuley and Brian Laws back in November - but has failed to score for the Owls in over two months, his last coming in the 4-1 rout away at Leicester.

And although Tudgay accepts other players should get their chance in light of his poor form in front of goal recently - he is keen to bounce back and re-capture his goalscoring touch.

'I know what I can do. Players can have little dips. If I'm not doing it right, I shouldn't be in there; other players should get their chance,' he told the Sheffield Star.

'There is competition for places, and that's good for the club. This has happened to me before. But I've come back, and I know I can come back again. That's part of football.'

Fellow striker Deon Burton has already revealed that he loves the competition for places at the club - pointing towards Tudgay and Maclean as a key reason for his improvement on the pitch.

He said: 'I think that what's spurred me on is the quality of the strikers we have at the club. You have to be on your game to be in the 11; if you're not doing it, you're going to be on the bench or not involved. That kind of competition is good for the team.'

well lets hope so,with johnson in the squad there will be less of a need to put him on the wing so he can concentrate on bagging a few goals.

Good point ozzie, we have three good out and out strikers now so hopefully we'll see an improvement in attack!
