Turner Poised For Owls

Turner Poised For Owls

Young Everton stopper Iain Turner was today poised to join Wednesday on a month-long loan to help solve the defensive crisis at the club.

The youngster, who has already enjoyed a successful loan spell with Crystal Palace this season, is travelling to Hillsborough this morning to complete the deal which will see him thrown straight in to the squad to face Southend on Saturday.

Wednesday's defensive frailties have been exploited in recent weeks - with Luton the latest side to put three goals by the Owls on Tuesday night - and goalkeeper Mark Crossley looks set to be the first casualty.

The deal will be Turner's fifth spell away from Goodison Park since joining from Stirling Albion in 2003. The stopper has had loan periods at Chester City, Doncaster Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers and, earlier this season, Crystal Palace.

The Scot has only made two starts for David Moyes' men since his move south of the border but is rated highly at Goodison Park - and Owls fans will be hoping his move to S6 will bring similar success to that of another former Merseyside loanee, Scott Carson, last season.
