Owls Complete Turner Deal

As reported earlier on Vital Sheffield Wednesday, the Owls have completed the capture of young Everton goalkeeeper Iain Turner on an initial month's loan deal.

The Scottish international arrived at Hillsborough to complete the move this morning and is set to go straight in to the squad to face Southend at Hillsborough tomorrow.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the official SWFC site: 'We are pleased to have signed Iain Turner on loan from Everton. He has played regularly for Scotland's under 21s and therefore comes to us with a degree of pedigree.'

And the Owls gaffer has revealed on-loan Fulham stopper Mark Crossley will remain at Hillsborough to fulfill his loan deal despite the arrival of Turner.

'Mark Crossley has done well for us this season but his form has dipped over the last few weeks and that is why I have brought in a goalkeeper on loan,' Laws added.

The deal will be Turner's fifth spell away from Goodison Park since joining from Stirling Albion in 2003. The stopper has had loan periods at Chester City, Doncaster Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers and, earlier this season, Crystal Palace.

The Scot has only made two starts for David Moyes' men since his move south of the border but is rated highly at Goodison Park - and Owls fans will be hoping his move to S6 will bring similar success to that of another former Merseyside loanee, Scott Carson, last season.
