New Loan Bid On Hold

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has been forced to put a second loan deal on hold until next week after failing to complete the swoop in time for todays clash with Southend.

Young Everton stopper Iain Turner arrived in S6 on Friday morning and will go straight in to the starting 11 at 3pm today against the Shrimpers - but Laws had also hoped to have a defender on the books to bolster the Owls frail defence.

But he will now have to wait until after the match to complete any deal, with the new loanee likely to be part of the squad that travels to Elland Road for the Yorkshire derby next Saturday.

'I'm looking to bring in one, possibly two, hopefully before Saturday. I'm waiting on a couple of phone calls as we speak,' Laws had told BBC Radio Sheffield prior to the capture of Turner.

He added: 'I'm not gonna come on radio and you're not going to get me on that spot. You know it and I know where the problems lie and that's where we'll be concentrating on.' he added.'

The Owls have already signed former Newcastle and Everton defender Steve Watson on loan from West Brom to strengthen their defence, but the 3-2 defeat at Luton in midweek forced Laws to dip back in to the loan market.

But won with the help of the referee!

This was taken from a quote of Southend's Manager Steve Tilson "The lad is only two yards away - he has smashed it and it hit him. To lose like we did is a massive kick in the teeth for us. "There were some strange decisions for both sides. That decision at the end could cost us. "I thought we played some good stuff and had enough chances to win."

The above says it all really when you are at the bottom that's the sort of luck you get.Good luck for the rest of the season.I am also very very gutted.

It was handball. Handball usually equals penatly! Harsh for you I agree, but a penalties a penalty.

He went to block the ball with his arms out from his body. If you do that and the ball (which was probably on target) hits your arms as clearly as it did, you have to expect to concede a penalty. The hand to ball and not ball to hand that the law clearly states is rarely applied when you stick your arms out.
