Owls Takeover Talk Hots Up

More names have been added to the list of investors interested in ploughing their cash in to the Owls - including Norwegian oil millionaire Berger Larsson.

Larsson's oil company, IOR, currently control League Two side Hartlepool, but the Norwegian is said to be close friends with Owls chairman Dave Allen and is said to be keen on taking part in a rights issue - which could see both take control of the Hillsborough club.

Allen told the Sheffield Star: 'It would certainly be a way forward and bring some money into the club. It would also be looked on favourably by the bank.'

Larsson is thought to be the wealthy backer and friend that the Owls chairman has referred to before - and although he stays firmly in the background at Victoria Park, his company would have to give up his control of the monkey hangers.

The news follows hot on the heels of a Chinese consortium attending Tuesday nighs clash with Plymouth in the directors box alongside Allen at Hillsborough - and revealing their interest post-match.

The Wednesday chairman has revealed four parties are interested in investing in the Owls - with an Irish party and the former owner of another English league club also said to be interested, as well as Larsson and the Chinese consortium.

And things look set to get moving following Allen's statement that the ownership of the club should be resolved by the start of the new campaign.
