Early End For Small?

Wednesday winger Wade Small could be set to face the rest of the season on the sidelines if Owls medical staff decide surgery is required on his troublesome knee.

The former MK Dons winger will be given until Thursday to see if swelling caused by cartilage problems in his knee dies down - and if not, he'll undergo surgery that wilkl rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

The news will come as a big blow to Wednesday boss Brian Laws who is also without new-boy Jermaine Johnson through injury, with academy prospect Rocky Lekaj being promoted to the first team to act as cover on the right of midfield.

The blow will be a further worry to the winger's future at Hillsborough - having already gone under the knife with a knee injury back in December from an injury following the Owls' 3-1 defeat at Coventry back in November.

Small returned to action in the blue and white stripes for the Owls' FA Cup 3rd round tie against Manchester City back in January but has been used mainly as a substitute following the arrival of Jermaine Johnson from Bradford City in the transfer window.
