Simek Set For US Call-Up

Wednesday right-back Frank Simek is set to be rewarded for his fine performances in the blue and white stripes this season by being called-up to the US national side.

The former Arsenal youth product has so far been overlooked by coach Bob Bradley - but is set to get his chance to impress in the USA's upcoming clashes with Ecuador in Tampa and Guatemala in Texas.

United States national matches often clash with domestic games in Europe, but with the international fixtures set by FIFA this time around, the ties come at a time the Owls don't have any matches due to the international break.

And Simek is set to be among 13 foreign-based players, including Premiership players Jonathan Spector, DaMarcus Beasley, Jay DeMerit and Carlos Bocanegra.

The 22-year-old right-back moved to Hillsborough from Arsenal in the summer of 2005 after spending time on loan at Bournemouth, and has clocked up 79 league starts for the Owls since his arrival.

The squad announcement is set to take place later today.

Let's hope the scouts keep away from him!

International duties may take his eye off playing for Wednesday, it may also raise his aspirations of playing at a higher level. Good News? Time will tell.
