Corr Set For Permanent Switch

Out-of-favour Wednesday striker Barry Corr is set to join former Owls boss Paul Sturrock on a permanent basis at Swindon Town once his loan deal comes to an end in the summer.

The young Owls striker has failed to feature for the club under Brian Laws, and completed a loan move to the County Ground until the end of the season yesterday - and Laws has confirmed a permanent switch is on the cards.

The Wednesday boss insisted Corr will have the chance to impress at League Two level, and went on to say his departure will free up much needed cash for him to freshen up his first team squad in the summer.

'Unfortunately Barry hasn't reached the standards that we were looking for since I came here but I am sure he will flourish at that level and I sincerely wish him all the best for the future,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'I see no reason why he won't do well there and, of course, Paul knows him well.

'Barry will benefit from playing games on a regular basis and it also means there could be room for me to bring someone else in later on.'

The Irishman arrived at Hillsborough from the Leeds youth set-up in 2005 and made a number of appearances in the blue and white stripes under Sturrock's reign - but has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of new boss Brian Laws.
