Laws Hopeful Over Hills

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hopeful left-back John Hills can regain his fitness and prove his worth in the first team before the end of the campaign.

The former Gillingham man has been out injured since November and made his comeback in the Owls' reserve teams comfortable 3-0 victory over Leeds United last night.

And with his contract at Hillsborough up in the summer, the Owls boss is hopeful Hills can play some part in first team affairs before the end of the season to prove his worth.

'He has just wanted to get back playing, his contract is up in the summer and he was very concerned about his situation. When you have an injury on top of that, there is no wonder he has been worrying,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'Let's hope this is a turning point for him so he can kick start his career and get close to the first team before the season ends.'

Hills played an hour of the match and came through unscathed while also setting up the Owls' third goal last night at Hillsborough.

Laws added: 'Taking him off was more precautionary than anything else. He'd been training all week and been dying to get a game and we thought if he got an hour that we would be delighted. There were no ill effects straight afterwards so that's great for the lad.
