Owls Agree Keeper Deal

Owls Agree Keeper Deal

Wednesday have extended the loan deal of young goalkeeper Iain Turner by another month after discussions with his parent club Everton.

The Scottish goalkeeper arrived at Hillsborough in time to play in the Owls' 3-2 victory over Southend at the end of February - and has impressed the Hillsborough faithful during his six-game stint.

Owls boss Brian Laws said: 'I am delighted to take Iain Turner for another month, he has been exceptionally good for us in his time here and the move has been good for both parties.'

Wednesday remain unbeaten since the arrival of Turner, who always enjoyed a successful loan spell at rivals Crystal Palace earlier in the campaign, and the Scot has put in a number of man-of-the-match appearances.

Turner's impressive form has also caught the attention of the Scottish national side who called the Everton man up as part of their squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifying matches against Georgia and Italy.

The deal will keep him at the club for the games with Crystal Palace, Cardiff, Ipswich, West Brom and Coventry but Turner won't be able to play in the Owls' final two matches of the season away at Birmingham and at home to Norwich.

Am I missing something ? Why take him for a month, and them have him miss last few games, when on deadline day every other club in the country took players on loan until the end of the season. I am baffled
