Laws Promises Clarke Games
Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed Leon Clarke's month-long loan deal with Oldham will not be extended - and the former Wolves man will get games for the Owls this season.
Laws snapped up the striker in the January transfer market for a fee believed to be around £250k, but Clarke has yet to make a first team start for the club, being limited to substitute appearances.
And he sent him out to League Two promotion hopefuls Oldham Athletic after Clarke asked to go out on loan to get some much-needed match fitness.
'The whole idea of loaning him out to Oldham was to get him some match fitness and sharpness, to get some 90 minutes' action under his belt,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.
'He's done that and he's some more action to come over there. But the loan won't be extended, I want him back here and to get him some games when he comes back here.
'Leon will be back with us after a couple more games and then I will be looking to play him.'
Wednesday have just three first team strikers available for selection following the departure of Drew Talbot and more recently David Graham on loan to Torquay United for the remainder of the season.
And with Marcus Tudgay filling in on the right in place of the injured Jermaine Johnson and Wade Small, Clarke is sure to get some minutes in the blue and white stripes before the end of the campaign.
