'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Four Owls On Duty

Wednesday will have four players competing in international competition over the next week, with Chris Brunt, Frank Simek, Iain Turner and Rocky Lekaj all representing their countries.

The call-ups represent the fine season at S6 both in the first team and the academy, with youngster Rocky Lekaj earning a call-up to the Norway under-19 side despite only featuring for the Owls' first-team once as a substitute.

Many Owls fans' player-of-the-season Chris Brunt is with the Northern Irish squad after impressing in his last run out for his country, and will be part of Lawrie Sanchez's plans for the games with Liechtenstein and Sweden.

Right-back Frank Simek also enjoyed being called-up to the US National side for the first time and will be part of coach Bob Bradley's plans for their matches against Ecuador and Guatemala over the next week.

On-loan stopper Iain Turner has impressed Owls' fans since making his move to Hillsborough from Everton, and his superb performances between the sticks have seen him called up the Scottish squad as fourth choice stopper.

It's thought Turner will play no part in their matches against Georgia and Italy but the experience of being involved in the Scottish international set-up will bring him on heaps and bounds and hopefully keep boss Alex McLeish watching over his progress.

And Owls boss Brian Laws will be keeping a close eye on all four players, and probably even hoping they don't perform too well and attract the interest of Premiership clubs!
