Pompey Trio Linked With Owls

Portsmouth trio Sventoslav Todorov, Jamie Ashdown and Richard Hughes have all been linked with a combined £2 million move to Wednesday in the summer, according to Radio Sheffield.

The trio are all on the fringes at Fratton Park and have been unable to occupy a regular starting spot for Harry Redknapp's men this season - and could well be looking for a move away from the club in search of regular first team football next term.

And Owls boss Brian Laws has already expressed his desire at strengthening his squad for a promotion push next season - with the bulk of the £2.5m transfer of Madjid Bougherra still available to spend on new players this summer.

The Owls' transfer kitty could also be boosted with a potential takeover or investment in the Hillsborough club which has been pencilled in for the pre-season by current chairman Dave Allen.

Todorov has already been linked with a move to the Championship to re-unite with Milan Mandaric at Leicester City - but Wednesday could be set to hijack the deal as Laws looks to add another striker to his strike force.

Goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown could also fill the number one jersey at Hillsborough with Laws keen to get a permanent shot-stopper in between the sticks following four loan players occupying the goalkeeping jersey in the last year.

Although the stopper has made just two first team appearances for Pompey this term, he comes highly-rated after progression through the Reading ranks and making his debut for the Royals in 2000.

Wednesday have already been told that current on-loan 'keeper Iain Turner won't be allowed to leave Everton in the summer after the Owls and rivals Crystal Palace had showed interest in his services.

And Ashdown could well be the man to replace Turner at the end of the season and become the Owls' first permanent number one since David Lucas.

Scottish midfielder Richard Hughes has also been on the fringes for Pompey this term with just seven starts in all competitions this season.

Hughes, who started his football career at Italian side Atalanta, is a the combative midfielder the Owls have been crying out for in recent seasons and could well be the perfect centre-midfield partner for Glenn Whelan.

The trio are likely to be linked with a host of clubs before the end of the season and throughout the summer, so keep checking Vital Sheffield Wednesday for the latest transfer updates!

Ashdown and Toddy I could see going, but I'm not sure Arry will be keen to see Hughsy go. Hughes is a very reliable backup player, and is unfortunate to not play more often as always tries his heart out and often turns in a solid performance.

What are your thoughts on Ashdown Tantota? Can't say I know too much about him.

I'd be happe with all three of those players! Have they all experienced promotion from this league before? If so, would be good all round. No exactly sure where we're getting our money from though
wednesdaytilidie
Where are we getting the money from? Well, it is a little known fact this, so don't tell anyone, but we sold a player called Bougherra and we may be being taken over. But shhhhhh, don't tell anyone I told you...lol

ashdown is a class keeper, much in the mould of pressman, its only the form of jamo keeping him out, toddy will only leave if pushed, and hughes has started the last four and remains one of redknapps favourite characters at the club

I'll second paultsmouth Ashdown is quality, a 'keeper I would love us to keep but with Jamo likely to be around for a good few years yet we can't hold Jamie forever, he'll go to a good home if you boys pick him up... Toddy, legend at Pompey will do a job for any Championship side and will score goals to put you in or around promotion contention next season. I'm so hoping he stays with us though... Richie Hughes is a player that I like a lot, not the best of players but know his limitations and sticks to them. Personally I feel he is a player that deserves more first team football, but for Pedro Mendes (who is one of the best midfielders of his type, and this includes the big four) Hughes would play more. He's good enough for the Premiership but will be outstanding given a regular run in the Championship... I would love to keep all three but we'll probably only retain the one, that one being Hughes...

Do you really believe this ? We will never get them, because everyone is moaning about ID schemes, and prices, so as far as i can see, only me is getting a season ticket, and my ticket will not pay their wages.
