O'Brien Steps Up Fitness

Forgotten Wednesday midfielder Burton O'Brien stepped up his return to full fitness as he featured for over an hour in the Owls' reserves 3-1 defeat to Bradford on Tuesday night.

O'Brien was one of just three senior players who featured for Wednesday as a team of mainly academy players took to the field in light of the hectic first team schedule.

Yoann Folly and John Hills were the other two senior players to keep their fitness levels up while youngster Rocky Lekaj took part after featuring in the Owls first team squad in the last few weeks.

Joe Brown netted a brace to give the Bantams the early advantage before John Swift secured the victory for the visitors and Jason Bradley replied late on for the hosts.

Wednesday Reserves: Adamson; McMenamin, Broadbent, Beevers, Hills; McAllister, Folly, O'Brien (Boden 69), Lekaj (McClements 62), Kee, Bradley. Subs not used: Kay, O'Donnell, Stothard.

City Reserves: Howarth, Camfield, O'Brien, Mitchell, Hopkins, Ainge, Swift (Sharry 88), Penford, Brown, Harper (Osborne 76), Barrau. Subs not used: Saynor, Taylforth, Smith.
