Laws Hoping To Cancel Holiday

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed he may have to cancel his end-of-season holiday to Portugal should the Owls reach the play-off spots - and he can't wait.

The Owls kept within striking distance of the Championship's top six with a superb 1-0 victory away at promotion chasing West Brom on Friday night thanks to a Deon Burton strike just before the hour mark.

The victory saw Wednesday move to within five points of the play-offs with just three games remaining this term - and the Owls gaffer has revealed he still has high hopes for his men.

'I have a sneaking feeling I may have to cancel my holiday now! I've booked it for May 15 but if it continues the way it's going, who knows? It may be a bridge to far for us but we will keep going, keep believing and if we win three more you just never know,' he told the official SWFC site.

And Laws was more than happy with how the match at the Hawthornes panned out in front of the Sky TV cameras, even if it required some desperate defending at times.

He added: 'It took some desperate challenges and getting bodies in the way. The goalkeeper has made some good saves. But the second half was the key, we sat deeper to stop the diagonal balls getting in behind us and everybody dug in.

'You know if you get the ball out to Chris Brunt his delivery is excellent and the goal from Deon Burton was well over the line so there's no complaints there.'

And Laws finished off by heaping praise of the Wednesday fans who have continued to support the team in numbers and vocally throughout the season.

'It was a fantastic win and I am ecstatic for the supporters. They are really digging in now and it's really spine chilling hearing them at the moment.' Laws continued.
