Brunt Laughs Off City Link
Owls winger Chris Brunt has said he is in talks about extending his current contract at Hillsborough, despite rumours of a move to Manchester City.
The Belfast-born player told Northern Irish publication News Letter that rumours of a move to the City of Manchester stadium was just 'paper talk'.
Brunt said: ''It is flattering, even if it is just speculation, to have my name mentioned with a Premiership club. That suggests I am doing something right and I hope to continue playing well.'
The Northern-Ireland international has been a key part of the Owls team this season, and leads the goalscoring charts. He wants to continue his progression in a blue and white shirt by extending his contract past 2007.
He continued: 'Right now I am talking to the manager about my current contract which ends in 2007 and what the next move will be for me. We are talking with a view to extending my contract. I am happy at Sheffield Wednesday and I have a lot of friends here.''
The 21-year-old signed for the Owls in April 2004 after impressing while on loan from Middlesbrough. He's made 52 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals.
