Life, Football and all that Jazz...
'Only free men can negotiate; prisoners cannot enter into contracts. Your freedom and mine cannot be separated.'
'Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing that we see too late the one that is open.'
'A sceptic is a person who would ask God for his ID card.'
Stuff to say, things to think about and discussions a plenty...
Typical day-to-day, week-to-week blue and white living!
Its been a while since my fingers graced the keyboard and allowed me to spew my Wednesday madness on the Vital pages, surprising really considering that issues at S6 are like trick birthday candles. I've begun to believe that my absence has almost coincided with our recent run so I've simply let it continue (I can feel the hate already, should Cov 'smash and grab' on Sat)
Sooo, we're winning again. We've even witnessed a clean sheet or two. Strikers scoring, Leon Clarke getting ovations and Premier league interest in our heroes... my how times change.
The obvious priority is to win the last three games. I don't think any other issues come close. If we can achieve that then the rest will take care of itself. Imagine finishing in the Championship on 74 points. Play off or no play off, that shows where we are at and where we can go. That, my friends, is bargaining power in the bag (a hint of Partridge detected!).
I, like Brian L, feel that we can only entertain players who truly want to be here. I hear people, on the back of what's his name`s exit to Charlton, suggest we are a selling club. I doubt that. Not even the ever popular Mr Allen could see sense in selling a Brunt or a Simek for a couple of mill only to find an equivalent replacement for a promotion chasing side would cost, at the very minimum, the same. There is no amount of selling we could do that could rectify our financial situation, to think otherwise is ludicrous, hence the clause with the bank stating only sales over such and such will result in such and such... and such.
Safe in this knowledge (or naivety!) I think the everlasting corner has been turned. Whether it is a corner or a U-turn to '93 is still to be seen!
What of this season? A success without doubt.
You can't help but think positively with Laws. He's the first who's dared to believe. Back at Crimbo he said he'd give his all to get us as high up as possible, now he's threatening to cancel holidays! As much as I loved KPS, his version would have been - 'survival at Crimbo and booking an unconfirmed holiday in May to prove a point': sad but true. His contribution cannot be overlooked though. Neither can McAuley's. Or, of course, the players! Us fans go without saying ;)
It's a shame we didn't replace the Magic man in Jan, as everyone keeps saying, but he wasn't the issue; we have a number 1 jersey and some big big gloves to fill. Shame we can't have Turner, he's been immaculate, but we'll find someone. Think Steve Mac's penalty in Cardiff 2005... he wasn't far off...
To coin a phrase from Old Trafford's red-faced king, it's twitchy bum time... But not for us!
...Yet
To the play offs, Photo IDs and beyond!!!!!!
