Laws Sets Contract Deadline

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed players being offered new contracts at the club will be given until the end of the season to decide on their futures.

Lee Bullen, Steve Maclean and Deon Burton have all entered negotiations with Laws over a new deal at Hillsborough - but Laws has insisted he will 'move on' should nothing be finalised before the end of the campaign.

Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'If we show the players that we want them to stay, then hopefully negotiations will go pretty smoothly.

'There's a time scale. I want an answer before the end of the season. If we don't get one, then we'll move on.

'I'm not going to wait throughout the summer for answers because I could then miss out on other players.'

The trio have all expressed their desire to stay at the club after their deals expire at the end of the season, but it looks as though Laws will be putting his foot down and looking for new players should they fail to agree terms before the Owls' final game of the season at home to Norwich City.
