Macca Wants To Stay

Wednesday striker Steve Maclean has confirmed what all Owls fans were hoping - that he wants to stay at Hillsborough and is set to sign a new contract with the club.

The Scottish hitman is one of a number of other Wednesday players in discussions with the club over a new deal - the other two being captain Lee Bullen and Maclean's strike partner Deon Burton.

Many Wednesday fans believed the former Rangers and Scunthorpe striker would be heading for the exit door come the summer after Owls boss Laws refused to comment on the future of the striker.

But now it seems Maclean is set to put pen to paper on a new deal in the coming weeks and commit his future to Wednesday.

'My contract is up in the summer,' said MacLean in the Daily Star.

'My agent and the club are talking now and hopefully it will be resolved. I want to stay, everyone knows that.'

Maclean notched up his 13th goal of the season for the Owls in the 2-1 victory over Coventry on Saturday which keeps Wednesday's play-off hopes firmly on track going in to the final two games of the season.

And his superb goalscoring form for the club since Chris Turner brought him to S6 in 2004 will hopefully carry over in to the next campaign should the Owls fail to achieve promotion this term.
