Hills Feels Frustration

Owls left-back John Hills admits he's feeling the frustration at not getting a chance in the first-team - and fears for his future at the club.

The former Gillingham man is out of contract at Hillsborough this summer and believes he is yet to prove his worth to Owls boss Brian Laws - with time fast running out of his chances of staying a Wednesday player next season.

Hills has managed just five reserve team appearances since returning to full fitness from injury but is yet to get the nod in the first team in light of the recent good run of form.

'I've been fit for a month and a half now and played five reserve games,' he told the Sheffield Star.

'Obviously the team have gone 11 games unbeaten so the manager can't really change things much. I don't think he has seen me at my best yet. I feel a bit frustrated; my contract's up this summer and I don't really know where my future lies.

'I'm happy at Wednesday. I want to stay. At the end of the day, it's down to the manager. I'm still waiting to hear.

'Tommy Spurr and Peter Gilbert have played in the unbeaten run and done the business, which is fair enough. I've got no complaints, because we are pushing for the play-offs and I want us to do well, as much as anyone else.

''It's just a bit frustrating for me. I feel I'm running out of time a bit.'

And Hills now has one last chance to prove himself to Laws in the Championship this term with the final match of the season against Norwich City at Hillsborough this Sunday - a match which Hills hopes to be involved now the Owls' play-off hopes are over.

'The manager said he'd give me a chance when we couldn't get in the play-offs; that was a month ago, and since then we've been winning!

'I don't moan, because we've kept winning and I want us to go up.'

Hills will be on his way in the summer we already have two left backs ahead of him and still need someone better in there.

He should have been given a chance but I think that means he's off in the summer. Spurr and Gilbert have age on their side and Hills doesn't!
