Bullen Set For New Deal

Wednesday skipper Lee Bullen is set to put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at Hillsborough after revealing being 'privileged' at the offer to extend his stay in S6.

The 36-year-old cult hero at Hillsborough is one of a number who are out of contract at the end of the season - but Owls boss Brian Laws has targeted the Scotsman as a key figure in his plans next season.

And Bullen insists he would put money on him still being around next term.

'I don't foresee any problems. If I was a betting man, I would say I'll be here next season, definitely,' Bullen told the Sheffield Star.

'I'm not difficult to deal with, I'm not a greedy person - and it's a privilege to be offered a new contract. I'm happy here and I enjoy it.'

And the defender is keen to see the club continue it's gradual progression in the Championship next season - a progression which has occurred since the Scotsman arrived back in 2004.

He added: 'It's a good club. Ever since I have been here, the club has progressed year on year. You need that kind of working environment.

'A one-year deal is fine by the club. It's all right for me as well; it keeps me on my toes.'

First team regulars Deon Burton and Steve Maclean are also out of contract this summer but both are expected to follow Bullen's lead and pen new deals at the club in the coming weeks.
