Clarke Makes Starting Claim

Clarke Makes Starting Claim

Wednesday striker Leon Clarke made a claim for a starting place in the Owls' final match of the season this weekend by netting in the reserves 2-1 defeat at Shrewsbury.

The former Wolves hitman is one of a number of players pushing for a starting place in the season finale against Peter Grant's Norwich City at Hillsborough on Sunday.

And his goal in the 2-1 defeat to Town on Wednesday afternoon will have done the youngster no harm in his hopes of grabbing a role in the Owls attack against the Canaries.

Owls boss Brian Laws has already revealed previously that he will give fringe and young players a chance once the play-offs are mathematically out of reach - but he will also be keen to finish the season off with three points in front of a bumper Hillsborough crowd.

The 22-year-old has made just three starts for the club since moving to S6 for an undisclosed fee in the January transfer window - netting his only goal in the victory at Cardiff City.

I don't see why not, he needs a decent run in the team and I think he'll get 45 minutes at least on Sunday.

Has he been any good. WE had him on loan at Plymouth and he turned out to be the worse loan signing of last season. Could of been the Pullis long ball tactics which didn't suit however.
