Turner Ends Owls Hopes

Young Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner has dashed any hopes of him returning to Hillsborough next season after signing a new deal at Goodison Park.

The Scottish stopper made a huge impression on the Owls faithful during his loan stint at Hillsborough, with boss Brian Laws hinting that he would be making a summer move for Turner.

But those hopes now seem to have all but ended after Turner pledged his future to the Toffees in the hope that he would move up the rankins on Merseyside and become the club's second-choice keeper next term.

And Turner, who picked up the player-of-the-month award during his time at S6, insists he hopes to fight for his place there next season and become the number one choice.

'It has been a not bad couple of weeks it has to be said. Luckily I was given a chance to go over and play at Wednesday. It is a big club and we had some big games and I thought I did well,' he said.

'I did enjoy my spell there and first team football is great but Everton is a very big club, they have offered me this contract and it is my ambition to become the number one here.'

Laws is now set to turn his attentions elsewhere after making a goalkeeper a priority in the summer.

What a shock !!! What did I say. Scott Carson all over again. Although if Charlton get relegated we might be able to get Carson on loan from Liverpool again ?

I don't see how this changes our chances of getting him at all? David Moyes said he wouldn't transfer him but we were looking at a season long loan. Surely if they've given him a new contract they'll want him to continue his development, which has come on leap and bounds at S6

We don't want to loan him though we need a keeper full time.
