Peacock Linked With Saddlers

Walsall have been linked with a move for Owls striker Lee Peacock this week, after the striker was told he is surplus to requirements at Hillsborough.

Saddlers boss Paul Merson has told the press that he is after a striker to bolster his squad after the departure of Matty Fryatt to Leicteser City this week, and Peacock seems to fit the bill.

In an interview with Saddler's World this week, Merson had a 'slip of the tongue' when he said that the striker is trying to get a package from his current Sheffield club, before trying to cover himself.

The ex-Bristol City man has slipped down the pecking order at the club after a poor goals ratio this season. The arrival of Deon Burton and Marcus Tudgay has seen Peacock surplus to requirements.

Peacock has made 42 appearances for the Owls since joining from Bristol City in July 2004. He's only managed nine goals in that spell though, which has prompted Sturrock to let the Scot leave the club.
