Owls In And Owls Out

More news from S6 about deals offered and players released!

Covered in detail already on this site are the offers made to captain Lee Bullen, and forwards Deon Burton and Steve MacLean. Brian Laws has now put together a deal for promising youngster Sean McAllister, for whom 2006/7 was a breakthrough season, featuring in seven Owls games and scoring once.

Moving through the exit door are five players: Steve Adams, Chris Adamson, Andy Broadbent, Barry Corr and John Hills have all been released.

Adamson's exit proves that Laws has serious intent in solving the goalkeeping situation for Wednesday.. the Owls can no longer persist in using second string and loan players in that position.

Corr's exit has been widely predicted since his loan re-union with former boss Paul Sturrock at newly promoted Swindon Town.

Probably the surprise is the decision to let John Hills (pictured above) go.. good consistent form from several of his defensive partners and a period of injury have probably contributed to that decision being made. The same could also be said of Steve Adams, an Achilles problem restricting him to a limited number of starts in the past two seasons.

The Owls boss commented on the released players: 'We would like to place on record our thanks for their service, professionalism and commitment to Sheffield Wednesday. We hope they will find a new club very quickly and are sure this will be the case.'
