Bring On United!

Yesterday saw the unfortunate - ahem! - relegation of the Blades after a brief stint in the Premiership, so we'll be welcoming back our red and white neighbours to the Championship!

Yes, its been a tough season dealing with friends, relatives, and not so good friends across the Steel City and further afield this past season as it looked like Colin was all set to steer his Bramall Lane men to safety this term.

But a 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic at home yesterday afternoon, coupled with West Ham's shock victory at the home of Manchester United, left the Blades men contemplating life against Scunthorpe United instead of Chelsea next term. Ironically, the winning goal for Wigan was scored by a Blades cast-off, David Unsworth!

At least there's one positive to come from all of this - the Sheffield derbies.

OK, we'll be the first to admit we haven't had the best of the Steel City clashes in recent seasons, but with a renewed air of optimism around S6 following a successful season Wednesdayites will be relishing the chance to set the record straight in two mouthwatering clashes in 2007/08.

So we at Vital Sheffield Wednesday say Bring On United! And the start of the 2007/08 Championship campaign.

Like playground mummies boys who can't accept defeat, the pigs are going to bite and scratch to try and keep themselves up not on the pitch, but in the courts. If they fail, which they probably will, it will hamper their preparation for next season and they'll be in danger of doing a Leeds. What a shame.
