Laws: Bring On The Blades!

Brian Laws is relishing the prospect of seeing of his Owls side compete with cross-town rivals United next season in the Championship.

Laws conceded that the Owls have not performed to the same standard as the recently relegated Blades in the past few seasons but believes the team is on course to change that state of affairs, to the obvious delight of the Hillsborough faithful.

He said: 'From the outside looking in, Sheffield Wednesday were probably the poorer of the two sides in terms of quality but I think currently - and I believe this whole-heartedly - that Sheffield Wednesday would now give them a real game and a real run for their money.

It will be interesting to see the actions of Sheffield United over the coming months, prior to the season starting, and it's going to be an exciting season. I am sure there are already Sheffield Wednesday supporters going out there to buy season tickets just so that they can secure a position and a spot to watch this particular game.

It's something that I am really looking forward to. I have played in some decent derbies - Nottingham Forest and Notts County, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, and the Lancashire one - Burnley v Blackburn - but by all accounts this is something special and I am thoroughly looking forward to it as a manager to pit my wits against whoever is in charge (at Bramall Lane).'
