Owls Linked With Grant

Derby County's out-of-contract goalkeeper Lee Grant is the latest name to be linked with a summer move to Hillsborough according to sources.

Owls boss Brian Laws has made a goalkeeper his top priority in the close season and Grant is said to be one of a number on his list to fill the vacant number one jersey at S6, with his contract due to expire next month.

The former England under-21 international has slipped down the pecking order at Pride Park behind Stephen Bywater and Lee Camp and his agent has revealed he looks certain to leave the Derbyshire club and find a new club before the start of next season.

His agent, Gino Culbertson, told the Derby Evening Telegraph: 'There has been a great deal of interest in Lee and as soon as we are able to, we will be looking to sort out his future. Lee has always given his best to Derby County and deserves an opportunity to restart his career.'

The 24-year-old has made 69 league starts for the Rams since coming through the Derby County youth ranks and has been on loan at Oldham Athletic and Burnley in recent seasons.

But he's made just eight starts for the club this season and declined a new offer in January, sparking interest from a number of other clubs including Coventry City.

But Wednesday boss Laws won't be able to speak to the player about a possible move to South Yorkshire until four days after the Championship play-off final, with Derby facing West Brom to battle for a place in the Premiership.

I'll have a bit of this. Cant see why he cant get into the Derby side, but if we can get him that would be fantastic.
will it ever happen
